  3. 1978 Formosa 41 ketch

    October 6, 2011 by EVAN

    About this Sailboat:

For sale is a Formosa 41. Not a normal leaky teaky as most of them are called. Her deck is fiberglass, no teak that leaks all the time. Nice and beatiful inside and out. Pretty woodwork on the inside.
Her rigging is updated with newer standing rigging and aluminum masts intead of the old wooden ones. LOA 53′.
Huge lazarette underneath the aft cockpit. Going forward into the main companionway hatch and intothe galley to starboard and a dinette/double berth to port. Steping down and forward is the salon with settees/bunks to either side with water storage underneath each(60 gal on either side, 120 total), with another table that folds up in middle of salon, which is also where the engine housing is. Fuel tank(60 gal) underneath salon floorboards. Moving forward, to starboard is owners cabin, and head to port with a seperate shower stall. Forward is the v berth with one bunk to port and a big hanging locker to stbd. Forward is the chain locker. The boat is a heavy displacement one with a full keel.that means stability, confidence and safety at sea. But some people argue that this type of boat is slow and hard to maneouvre. She is slow, but thats why sailors have sailboats not powerboats. As far as maneuverability, she is stiff but you can master her. My slip is a tight fit, but I can get her in and out with no problem.
Currently living on boat, but selling since wife doesnt want to be on the boat, so I have to get a house instead.
im at work now, ill post photos when Im home.

    Equipment on Board:

raytheon 16 nm radar, raystar gps, vhf dsc linkef to gps for position reporting in case of emergency. Kenyon marine 3 burner stove/oven. Pyle Marine radio, cd, mp3 player. Mizzen, mainand jib and storm jib, all good condition.
4 hatches overall, one im each cabin. Pressure water, 6gal water heater. Battery charger. Dinghy davits, big bimini top. Storage lockers everywhere. 16.5 kbtu reverse cycle cruiseair. So much more
