5 October, 2011 by EVAN

About this Sailboat:

This is a very well built sailboat with features that no other sailboat has. Stellar sailboats were only made between 1984 and 1986 and 10 were made. This is one of only two with a retactable keel.

The hull-
The hull is very strong with a 1/2in balsa wood core with 1/4 inch fiberglass on each side of the balsa making the hull an inch thick. The deck and cockpit are made this same way and it feels like you are walking on solid ground on the decks. The special thing that makes this boat so great is it weighs only 5800lbs! This makes it very easy to tow with any suv or truck.

The keel-
The keel is solid lead with 5/8in of fiberglass around it and weighs 2000lbs. It is retractable with an electric winch and drafts only 2ft with it up and 6ft with it down.

The cockpit-
It is a center cockpit that is very roomy with wheel steering and autopilot. It has enough room to six 7 adults easily. It also has a removable teak table for outside eating.

The cabin-
The cabin is very spacious with teak walls and holly wood floors. The galley has a large icebox, nice ss sink with hot and cold pressure water and 12v refrigerator. It has couches on each side with updated cushions. Towards the front it has a large head with sink with hot and cold water and portable head. The front berth also has updated cushions and plenty of storage. There aft cabin is seperate from the main cabin and has a closet and 7ft beds with new cushions. The boat has shore power with outlets all throughout the boat.

The engine-
It is powered by a 16hp yanmar diesel that is intercooled and runs great. It was overhauled in 98 but the hours are unknown. It sips fuel at 15mpg at 5 knots.

Equipment on Board:

vhf radio, am/fm/cd radio, autopilot, speed and depth gauges that are non functioning.
