1973 MacGregor Venture 2-24

About this Sailboat:

This is a trailable cruising boat, (trailer included) that has only been sailed in fresh water and is great for the novice or experienced sailor. Designed for easy handling and comfortable day cruising. The self-tending jib does not overlap the mast, eliminating the need for the crew to release and re-secure the jib each time the boat tacks, and all deck hardware is positioned for easy single-handed sailing.

The retracting keel provides the ultimate answer for economical, cruising. A winch in the cockpit swings the lead ballasted keel back and up against the hull for easy ramp launching, trailering or shoal water sailing. With the keel locked firmly in the down position, the Venture 24 is self-righting, giving you the safety and stability of a conventional keelboat. The large cockpit is completely self-bailing. The boat includes positive foam flotation, an essential safety feature seldom found in a boat of this size.

The boat was stored all winter under wraps, the hull is sound and deck no soft spots or blisters; but, the boat needs a good cleaning, and the trailer is in good condition (with a flat tire that should be replaced). The original Main Sail is usable but worn (149 sq. ft.), the working jib in good condition (82 sq. ft.), as is the 150% Genoa (135 sq. ft.). The Mast and Boom are anodized Aluminum and in good condition. Standing and running Rigging is 4 years old, original vinyl cushions are in good shape.
