  2. 1974 Westerly Centaur

    December 15, 2012

    About this Sailboat:

    26′ Westerly Centaur with Trailer

Project boat needs work. The Westerly Centaur is a heavy displacement twin Keel blue water cruising sailboat that sleeps 5. Feels large and roomy for its size with stand-up headroom in the main salon. I’ve owned and sailed this boat for 10 years, but it’s time to move on. There has been much written about the virtues of this Westerly model to justify restoring it to cruising condition. A quick web search will return a wealth of information and specifications.

The original inboard diesel engine has been removed and a transom mounded outboard engine was used in it’s place. Otherwise the boat is substantially complete with all standing and running rigging, main sail and 3 headsails.

The interior cabin headlining has been removed, 2 of the four main cabin windows are removed but included for re-bedding, Two thru-hull fittings for the cockpit scuppers were removed for replacement, head w/macerator holding tank needs servicing. Bottom has been stripped and ready for minor filling and painting. Primary winches were removed but included, as are most other minor parts. Some interior trim removed for refinishing.

The trailer is a road-worthy dual axle converted car trailer. The conversion is bolted on, and can be removed to convert back to a car trailer.. New brake assemblies and breakaway system installed Oct 2012. I’m willing to sell the boat or trailer separately.

Photo is from a few years ago when the boat was being sailed. Photo is not of the current condition.

Video is when the boat was last hauled http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVBuyeMMDXM

No doubt, lots of work involved to get her back into “shipshape”
I bought another boat and I’m motivated to make room. Boat can be seen in Deer Park, Long Island NY almost anytime. Call Andy at (# removed) for more details or to take a look.

    .

V-verth, enclosed head with a porta potty with deck pump out, settee with removable table, 2 very big quarter berths, large cockpit with bimini.

Really all this boat needs is a good home and her wiring upgraded.

I have been living on here and been anchored out in 45mph gusts and always felt safe and secure on her.

Never go hard a ground again. She draws only 2’9″. When the tide goes out you are sitting level. Makes her a ideal boat if you have a lot of shoals in your area.

Tired of reefing at 15 knots of wind, this boat is coming alive. I reef at 25 knots. This boat was made for the North Seas.

She is built like a tank. She is slooped rigged, the mast is stepped to the cabin top on a tabernacle, which means 2 people can raise or lower the mast.

Headroom is 5’10” all the way to the V-berth, she has as much room as most 30′ boats.

This is one of the smallest bluewater cruiser that you can trailer. She has a knuckle bow which keeps you dryer when busting through them big waves. She also comes with her Lloyds of London Certificate.

This is a boat that will carry you and your family safely to any where. Why pay expensive marina fees when you can put her on a trailer.

I am living on her in Key West.

I can also deliver her anywhere on the gulf or east coast for cost and exp.

    I would like t

    October 19, 2012

    About this Sailboat:

Beautiful sailboat that was completely restored in 2010 from the keel up. New Ac/ Dc panel and electrical wiring etc. The boat is a great boat for dock side living or staying out at the islands. The boat has all new interior with new cushions. It has a port and starboard berth with a V berth. New refrigerator and much more. New UV windows. The Westerly handles the rough water like a ship! My family enjoyed the boat all last summer and this winter but we bought a larger boat and it was put in the water two weeks ago so this gem must go. I will pull her and break down the mast in three weeks if she doesn’t sell. Call Chuck for more details or to view this boat. If you would like me to send you pictures contact me. (# removed). Thanks
