  3. 1957 Herreshoff Nereia 36

    October 5, 2011

    About this Sailboat:

Herreshoff NEREIA 36 Ketch (45′ LOA)

Presently on the dry in Edgewater, MD (close to Annapolis, MD USA) in a marina with full amenities including showers, pool, snack bar etc. The marina is not far from shopping centers, restaurants, lodging, marine hardware/supply stores, rental centers etc. Liveaboard’s are welcome at the marina. Slip tenants are allowed to work on their boat while it’s in the marina’s shipyard. Shore power is available close to the boat. She is sitting next to a full service marine repair center. Slips that include shore power and water are currently available at the marina and the re-launching fees have already been paid up-front.

This boat has been out of the water since November 2008. The bottom and sides have been scraped to reveal areas that need wood work prior to re-caulking and painting. The boat needs some attention in the lower transom area and a few areas under the rails. The Perkins 4-108 has been winterized but not run in two years. There is a full compliment of sails that go with the boat. All of the navigation equipment and electronics were in working order two years ago but are older and probably should be updated if serious blue water cruising is the goal.

The overall condition of this boat is very sound. She is well worth the effort and deserves someone with more time (or money) and ability (and a better “ticker” than I have) to bring her back to her glory days. Now that good weather is right around the corner, the work needed to get her back in the water will resume. As time and work progress, so will the Asking Price. I will entertain any reasonable offer “AS IS” at any stage of her restoration.

    Equipment on Board:

Seven sails, Furuno radar, Auto-pilot, CB Radio, Perkins 4-108, Depth meter, Double SS sink, 2 Burner stove w/oven, wood/coal burning heater/fireplace, head, sink, anchor and chain, etc., etc., etc.

  4. 1972 Herreshoff Rozinante

    October 5, 2011

    About this Sailboat:

This is one of the few true Herreshoff Rozinante’s built with care to follow L.Francis Herreshoff drawing exactly with no deviations. There was a lot of correspondence between Herreshoff and Wallace, the builder, to see to it that the boat was done correctly. Wallace sailed the boat for two years and I have owned and maintained the boat ever since and can attest to her care and current condition. I have raced this boat in several classic regattas against other Rozinantes and being true to Herresoff lines she is the quickest out there. The boat does not have and inboard engine which throws the balance off or teak decks that ad lots of weight up high again with loss of sailing ability. The boat is ceder on oak with blonde mahogany comings and house. Sails are in very good condition by Doyle. A heavy trailer custom fitted to the Rozinate comes with it. Come see it you will not be disapointed

    Equipment on Board:

All the usual like jackets, flares, anchor, every needed to go sailing today

  5. 1954 herreshoff

    October 5, 2011

    About this Sailboat:

I am located in Warren county N.J. I had given to me a 1954 Herreshoff Sail boat (Fiber glass). I do not know any thing about sailboats or sailing and want to get it out of my yard / wife thing. It needs some minor repairs and needs sail/sails. It has no leaks but i see had a patch put in cabin floor and a seat brace was made. all in all this Sail boat is in good shape. It also needs the rear metal trim tightened . all rigging seems to be there. The trailer is in real good shape but looks like it never had tail lights on it for many a years. I am asking $1,500 O.Bo. To see this Boat or for more info call Tom at (# removed)

    Equipment on Board:

I beleive the only equipment needed is the sail/sails and a spreader

  6. 1973 Herreshoff

    October 5, 2011

    About this Sailboat:

    CLASSIC, TRADITIONAL, SEAKINDLY.
These are the words which describe this beautifully built cruising ketch. Designed by the legendary L Francis Herreshoff, this version of the “Nereia” is carefully built of ferro concrete. Well maintained, and partially overhauled, she needs a new loving Owner to keep her up to scratch, and maintain her fiberglass like finish. “Almitra” sails beautifully, is exceptionally well balanced, with her versatile ketch rig. She is an ideal cruising yacht with her heavy displacement, long keel and spread out sail plan, over a generous waterline.

She is trimmed outside in mahogany, with varnished sitka spruce masts. She has 5 sails, 2 which are relatively new. Standing rigging is mostly less than 10 yrs old, is stainless. Merriman bronze hardware! Ash faced Dauphinee blocks through to Lewmar winches. Ground tackle is a 75lb Herreshoff “fisherman’s” anchor with a Vetus windlass.

Her interiors are finished in lauan mahogany with cherry trim, her floors are cherry and maple. She sleeps 4 in long berths. There is ample storage for all crew requirements for lengthy cruising. Galley: burner propane stove with oven, EZ Kold holding plate refrigeration from engine compressor. Powered by Perkins 4-99 diesel- 2 fuel tanks. Fresh water: two stainless steel tanks under the floors.

Almitra has become too much for me to maintain, and needs a fair bit of cosmetic work. She’s on the hard in Kingston, Ontario. Once brought back to her natural beauty, she will be the Queen of the fleet! This ideal cruising yacht is 37’6″ bowsprit x 11’6″ beam x 5’6″ deep x 32′ lwl, and displaces 26000lb. Please visit www.cohrs.ca/Almitra for more infomation on this fine cruising yacht.
