    About this Sailboat:

    The yacht was designed by William Garden, NA, at the request of Paul Whittier, to be a wedding gift to his daughter. Instructions to builder were “build with the best materials available & highest safety known”, money never entered into the building decisions. This yacht has circumnavigated very well. It is FULLY FOUND! Pack your belongings, provision yacht, walk on & sail away! Of the five owners, the present owners have had her the longest, for 26 years and she has been the love of their lives, constantly maintained and upgraded when needed. THE OWNERS LAMENT THEY HAVE JUST RUN OUT OF THE YOUTH THIS VESSEL NEEDS.

    The hull was constructed at Duwamish Welding Yard near Seattle. When the hull was finished it was launched and taken to Whittier’s personal shipyard on Vancouver Island, Canada where she was fitted out with masts, sails, deck hardware, machinery, joinery work and the like.

    She is diagonally plated with 3/16 mild steel on longitudinal frames. Her keel plate is 3/4″ steel 18″ wide with a 24′ run, which give a firm base for hauling. The ship’s decks, pilot house and superstructure are 3/16 mild steel with wood overlay on the superstructure. The hull is structurally divided into three integral compartments by two watertight collision bulkheads.

    Sail inventory: the main, mizzen and stays’l are three years old. There are hank on jib and genoa (the stays’l is on a furler), and two fairly heavy downwind sails that can be poled out.
    The complete inventory is extensive from the ground tackle and windlass to an assortment of winches, safety gear, a hard dinghy, etc.

    Equipment on Board:

    The COCKPIT has excellent seating space and is well sheltered. Shower hose, fresh water, underneath starboard cockpit seat. Two electrical bilge pumps & two manual bilge pumps. Bimini top with many curtains. 2 solar panels atop bimini. Binnacle & helmsman’s seat. Compass. Wheel steering via cables. Anchor windlass & autopilot controls. Depth sounder. One companionway leads down aft to the great cabin and the other one down forward to the pilothouse.

    The PILOTHOUSE is equipped with a pilot berth, chart table and nav. equipment. Volvo control panel & hour meter, storage under chart table for tools, storage to starboard. Radar, VHF, Hailer/Automatic Fog horn. Electrical panels, generator controls & hour meter. Work bench to starboard. Watermaker filter (one of two)underneath companionway ladder. Forward of the amidships pilot house to starboard is a guest cabin with head and shower room.

    The GREAT CABIN aft has copious seating, storage and a drop-leaf table. Table of Iroko, an African wood, seats 8. Northern Cedar ceiling with platinum stain. Many large portholes (at eye level) for a view of harbor, etc. from saloon while seated. Not seated in a dungeon! Large air conditioning/heating unit.

    The door on the starboard side leads into a MASTER STATEROOM with double queen berth with foam mattress. Curtains over portholes for privacy and to allow off watch crew to sleep in daytime. Reading lamps, fan, & a drop down, double hinged partition for privacy. hanging lockers and head. Floor hatch access to valves that: switch pump between bilge and gray water tank, switch between electric & manual pumps.

    The FORWARD CABIN has upper & lower twin berths, each with light & fan. Storage under lower berth, storage cabinet, storage & access to main mast foot under seat locker.

    On the port side the GALLEY is stretched along the passageway. Also on the port side are a freezer, refrigerator, sink and pantry. Chambers commercial 4 burner stove with grill, and broiler under grill. Microwave, watermaker, reverse osmosis, Storage above counter top, Storage lockers underneath, double stainless steel sinks, deep for use at sea. Separate beverage refrigeration box within close proximity to dining/living room.

    Standard VHF, Standard depth sounder, RAYTHEON radar, Wood Freeman auto pilot, loud hailer and EPIRB

    12v from a 4D engine battery and 2 each 8D house batteries with a battery charger, 800 W inverter and four solar panels. 120/240 VAC from shore power and a Westerbeke 8KW 240 VAC auxiliary generator.
