1998 Westerly Oceanquest

About this Sailboat:

Oceanquest 1998

A high standard of finish and attention to detail throughout demonstrates Westerly’s modern style while retaining the company’s traditional values of craftsmanship and luxury. Built to Lloyd’s specifications, these are ocean worthy boats that I personally would have no hesitation in sailing to Europe or the Caribbean, for example.

Westerly Yachts are very highly regarded in England and known to be a builder of very strong vessels. A few of the build features are that 12 layers of cloth are used in the hull layup, with vinylester resins in the primary hull layers. The hull to deck joint is bolted and then laminated over, so it is virtually impossible to leak. That is capped with a thick teak rub strake for protection. The deck core material is Firet coremat as opposed to balsa, so were any moisture to get into the deck it would not have the same damaging consequences that occurs with the much more common balsa core materials.
