Hunter introduced the Legend 37 in 1987 as a replacement for the Hunter 37. The new Legend 37 was an improvement over the old model. She was built with a 12’10” beam (12′ wider), much lighter, offering the option of wing/fin keel, and featured a new fractional rigged mast. However, it is the interior arrangement that set this new design off, particularly the aft stateroom. The New Legend 37 has incorporated a large island double berth with private access to the head. The Legend 37 remained in production for 4 years when she was replaced in 1991 by the Legend 37.5.
Maji Tembo is rigged and ready to sail to Catalina and beyond. She has great lines and sails extremely well. Fast for her class, she sports a 114 PHRF rating and competes well in local races. A joy on the water, you can sail her like a dinghy by yourself or take out all your friends or race crew without missing a beat.
She has been lovingly maintained and upgraded at every opportunity. Hatches and ports replaced as needed as well as topside non-skid deck replaced to increase safety. Lifelines were replaced in 2010.
From the centerline companionway, you enter a spacious salon with seating port and starboard and center line dinette table with drop down leafs. V-berth forward with vanity/sink and hanging locker. The starboard midship settee is split with 2 seats and an entertainment center between them. Starboard of companionway is the nav station with swivel out chair. Aft of Nav is a full head, which also lends second access to aft Master stateroom. Full head with separate shower area. Adjacent, to port is an L shape galley with access to Master stateroom. The large master stateroom has a full double berth inline, dual hanging lockers, ample storage and private head access.
