About this Sailboat:
Avalanche is a powerful 60 foot bluewater cruising yacht in fabulous condition and designed to be easily sailed short-handed by a couple.
She was built in 1986 in aluminium by Trehard Marine who went on to build a number of well-known superyachts up to 130 in length.
She has been constantly upgraded ever since she was first launched, including a comprehensive refit in 2000 and is truly in excellent condition.
Her cutter rig with electric in-mast mainsail furling, electric winches and headsail furling, sail-handling is all push-button and with her hydraulic centre-board raised her draught is just 510 enabling her to explore all the shallow anchorages of the Bahamas.
Her teak decks have recently been replaced. Her aft cockpit can seat 10 in comfort with the entertaining area kept conveniently separate from the helm.
Down below Avalanche is certainly luxurious, her varnish is mirror finished and her bright-work sparkles, with air-conditioning throughout, three en-suite double staterooms forward and a further en-suite double cabin aft.
The master suite has a centre-line queen size double bed and in the en-suite the shower is separated from the head and vanity for comfort. The two remaining forward guest suites can be made up either as twins or king size doubles. There are extensive storage lockers often only found on much larger yachts.
The saloon has a U-shaped sofa around an extending dining table for more formal occasions and a well-equipped galley with a huge fridge and freezer.
The chart table is fitted with a satellite phone and twin interfaced autopilots, in addition to all the other navigation and communication aids you would expect to find on a yacht of this calibre.
Avalanche was recently repowered with a 132hp Volvo Penta diesel and Northern Lights 12kVA generator. Her capacious tanks and watermaker give her an extended cruising range.
Under her current ownership Avalanche has made the return trip each year since 1998 from Newport to Antigua, where she is currently lying awaiting a new owner to continue her travels.
