About this Sailboat:
This is a nice vic 18 and is ready to sail. The trailer has an extension so the car tires don’t even get wet while launching. It also has a bilge drain plug so the inside can be cleaned drained from time to time. I added a rear stay to hold up the boom but it will not rake the mast.
It does have some thing that need to be addressed.
It will need a new hatch on the deck behind the tiller. This one is old and brittle.
West marine sells one in their catalog for around $85.00.
Also, just behind the hatch is a small hole where a lighting wire used to be. That will need to be fixed.
The bottom paint needs to be removed, but it not urgent. The previous owner told me that the bottom has never had any blistering. By looking at it, I have no reason not to believe him.
The rub rail seems to be leaking when it rains. That should not be a big deal to repair.
Equipment on Board:
There is 500lb lead keel so the boat is very stable. In my experience it sails very much like a catalina 22. The sails are in nice shape, but should probably be professionally cleaned and looked over. It has a mercury 4 hp 2 stroke motor that runs so well that if you didn’t know it is a 2 stroke, you would not think to add oil to the gas. I gave it a tune up a couple of months ago it runs like new. I also installed scupper drains that are brass through the hull and plastic on the deck. I would consider a trade for a Boston Whaler Harpoon 5.2 in nice condition
