1982 Rogers 26

About this Sailboat:

This Rogers 26 is a unique Tall Rig club racing speedster sloop located in Stamford CT.
The Rogers 26 was designed and built in the early ‘80s as a light weight fin keel performance day racer rating the same as a J24, but longer, taller, deeper, and faster, at least in lighter airs. While designed and built for performance, she has room below for cruising and a real cockpit and wide decks for day sailing.
Forget the family cruise, if you want to feel your boat bend to the breeze, feel the acceleration in the puffs, then sail a performance yacht, sail Special Sauce.
Special Sauce is a stripped out no nonsense sailing machine from the wonderful 80’s that opens eyes and promotes envy on the Wednesday night circuits today. She has the high performance sail, the tweakers, the gadgets, the go fast tools you would expect for a boat built to compete.
No, she does not have a shower, or an entertainment center, or a stand up head; she does not even have a table. But she has an ice box, a functional nav area, and even a galley sink. The forepeak is for sail storage, and the obligatory Porti Pottie.
But yes, she has a keel stepped; double spreader; mast head rig , faired foils, Harken adjustable lead cars, a Harken windward sheeting traveler with tweaker. Her sails are vintage high tech in condition for a season of blowing past the Wednesday night competition.
Special Sauce is a perfect sled for someone who wants to blow off the tensions of the week in a spot of cub racing. Sail her hard, put her away wet. This is what Special Sauce is all about. She has what you need to enjoy the thrills of sailing and even a solid 8 HP Mercury outboard to get you out to the line on time. Here is a chance to race in a very competitive boat for next to no money. Perfect for a weekend warrior, or partner with your sailing buddy and jump aboard for a season of fun and glory.
