1977 Neptune by J W Shuttlewood Paglesham Essex Neptune 33

17 October, 2012 by EVAN

About this Sailboat:

A spacious sea-going yacht designed by Alan Buchanan and built by J W Shuttlewood & Son Ltd of Paglesham Essex.

A safe “family” sailing cruiser for weekends and holidays or a “go anywhere” live aboard.

The NEPTUNE was heralded as ‘Space Afloat’, giving space and performance. The aft cockpit really has room to move around…”

The current owner has captured that space turning it into a third cabin with an easy to remove canvas cover giving dining and entertaining an all-round view of the sea or river whilst retaining the space required for boat management and shelter from discomfort during heavy weather. Thus “REVOIR” is a safe family sailing cruiser or a “go anywhere” live aboard.

Teak fitted side and rear seats give ample sail stowage space and ready access to emergency steering, bilge pumps and batteries.

The uncluttered decks are of a mould-in non-skid pattern by Tyler Mouldings giving an abundance of room on the foredeck for sail work. An inflatable can easily be stowed across the coach roof leaving room to work the boat.

The Neptune of the 1970s was ahead of its time in providing an abundance of space with the rich finish of traditional teak enhancing the whole interior appearance.

Designed to sleep five people in comfort the fore cabin has two berths with stowage below and plenty of shelf lockers. Privacy is provided by folding doors across the bulkhead and the toilet-compartment is completely isolated when in use. The washbasin drains into the “Baby Blake” W.C and pushes under the side locker when not in use.

Two settee berths are located in the saloon area, the starboard converts into a comfortable double.
Additional berthing for family use is provided on the port as the settee back neatly rises to provide an extra small berth. To starboard behind the navigation area a full sized bunk with stowage under and space for hanging clothing provides a secure passage for the navigator whether on Port or Starboard Tack.

The L galley contains sink, ice box, cooker with oven all the expected stowage space of a modern sea going yacht.
