About this Sailboat:
Here is a great opportunity for beginners as well as experienced sailors. This 1977, 27 Catalina was, and still is, one of the most popular coastal cruisers (although I have a great article of a sailor who went around the world in a 27′ Catalina). This is a sailor’s boat. No flat screens, etc, but well equipped to cruise the bay and visit the Islands. I purchased this boat a couple of years ago for my son who is an experienced sailor. After she was surveyed he took care of all the recommendations and spends a lot of time on the water with friends and visiting the islands. He just moved back to Europe, I’m not a sailor, need to sell it ASAP. She is in a 30′ slip here in Marina del Rey, which is transferable. Slip includes a dock box, water, electricity, phone line optional, street parking 20′ from the boat and covered long time parking in secure parking structure. Heads, showers, washer and dryer are all within 50′ of the boat. The slip fees are $325.00 a month.
Accommodations are for 5 persons in way of a forward V-berth. Port and starboard convertible settee berths, and a starboard aft quarter berth. She has an enclosed marine head.
Equipment on Board:
Mainsail with lazy jacks (Old back-up main in bag), roller furling UK tape drive Genoa on Schaeffer, furling gear (plus old Genoa), storm jib, spinnaker and spinnaker gear.
Sheet winches: Two Lewmar 40s, 1 lewmar on mast.
This boat was upgraded with a single Yanmar YSB Diesel engine rated at 12hp with less than 400 hours of use. She has autohelm sailing instruments and a brand new GPS/Plotter/Fishfinder. She also has an autopilot for the tiller. VHF radio.
electrical: battery safety switch, fuses, circuit breakers, 12V and 110V System with shore power cable. Two new batteries and also upgraded with a Benton battery charger.
People not familiar with the 27 Catalina . Accommodations are for 5 She does need a little cosmetic work. My son was a sailor. He cared about safety and systems not one to sit in a slip polishing and varnishing. But nothing you couldnt do in a weekend or two, or have done for a couple of hundred bucks.
She comes with everything on board. He took his personal stuff off but anything related to the boat was left. Including linen, all safety gear, and new GPS system in the box with satellite antenna, transducer, cables, local maps, and manuals. Two anchor systems with chain and rode in lazarette. Cockpit cushions, New set of fenders. And a whole bunch of other stuff. (She was rewired, new electrical panel, new bilge pump with manual and auto switch. Engine was serviced. New shaft packing. New batteries. Exhaust system was replaced. Boom tent/ sun shade.
