1976 Hinckley Sou’wester

About this Sailboat:

This 50 foot Hinckley Sou’wester, constructed in 1976, is located in Bristol, Rhode Island; stored indoors, and is available for showing by appointment only.

Her interior is a customized “A” layout with stunning satin varnished mahogany joinery, and a recently renovated teak and holly cabin sole. Beginning forward, she has a private owner’s cabin with a V berth and an adjoining private head on the port side. In the owner’s cabin there is ample storage for bedding and gear on shelving port and starboard, as well storage and hanging lockers. A second day head is adjacent to the owner’s head and is accessible from the main salon. In her main salon is a U shaped dinette to port with a drop leaf table. Above the U shaped settee is a pilot berth. To starboard in the main salon is a second settee. Above the starboard settee is a bookshelf and storage lockers fore and aft. A hanging locker lies forward of the starboard settee. On the port side aft, lies a U shaped galley with wood grained Formica countertops and sufficient storage for provisions and cookware. To starboard lies a large outboard facing navigation table with sufficient drawer storage for navigational charts and publications. Just aft of the navigation table is a quarter berth for the navigator.

THISTLE has been lightly used and is a well maintained example of this venerable Hinckley model.

THISTLE is a customized “A” layout Sou’wester 50. Exquisite craftsmanship and joinery only found on a Hinckley. Satin varnished mahogany cabinetry and a recently refurbished teak and holly cabin sole. Brass reading lamps and a Paul Luke soapstone fireplace with a tiled heat shield on the forward bulkhead; fireplace burns wood or coal. Ample storage is provided by lockers, book shelves, hanging lockers and bureaus. A well ventilated interior as provided by deck hatches with insect screens; reverse cycle heat and air conditioning.
