About this Sailboat:

Are you looking for the best boat ever built for sailing around the world?

Westsail 42 Ketch Hull #1;
a very special boat. As the prototype and first production model for this very successful series, extra care and attention went into every stage of her design and construction.
Her history has shown very good ‘open checkbook’ownership which has continued throughout her life. A New England boat for most of her life, she has spent a good portion of most years out of the water with her spars in storage.
Small World is in very original (excellent) condition below decks and shows as a much younger vessel. In 1986 she underwent an extensive refit in New England by her second owner which included a new larger engine, new aluminum fuel and stainless water tanks, and two Hood Stowaway in-mast furling spars. Now a tall rig double spreader ketch, this very expensive upgrade makes her possibly the only ketch rigged version to ever have had this done. Easily single handed, she is fast and weatherly and has nearly infinite sail control.
During 2011/12 the present owners, both very experienced cruisers undertook a significant upgrading and refit, updating of the yacht to bring her up to contemporary cruising standards. The original teak decks are in very good condition. The topsides of the hull were professionally awlgripped and a watermaker, new chart plotter, AIS, Pactor/SSB, solar, wind, etc. and many other significant upgrades were undertaken as shown below. Small World is completely world cruise ready and is in Florida until November. She is completely outfitted with up to date safety equipment, the latest in marine electronics and tons of spares and extras for comfortable and safe offshore sailing.
The owners have a new business venture they are undertaking and so a change in plans has this fantastic vessel up for sale at well under her invested value.
