About this Sailboat:
For your review is a Sparkman and Stephens designed Sailmaster 22, built in 1965. Although only a 22′ day sailer, this boat is more of a mini yacht. With over 1800 lbs. of keel and a drop centerboard that will increase the draft to a full 5′, this boat sails like one of the big boys!
This boat was originally purchased very rough shape, as a present for a terminally ill father, as a project boat that would keep his attention and enthusiasm. Bought for only a dollar, this boat spent all of 2010 being reconditioned it to its former glory. The following was performed on the boat:
-The wooden mast was rebuilt and reconditioned
-Old barrier coat and bottom paint removed and replaced
-Added rebuilt 1982 8hp Johnson Sailmaster long shaft motor
-Added vhf radio
-Reconditioned or replaced much of the hardware
– Sails cleaned and patched
-Much more
-Over $4,000 dollars in improvements
The boat does need a little more TLC albeit mostly cosmetic work.
-The main sheet and jibs sheets are usable but still need replacing.
-The boat could use some top paint and deck paint.
-It has an electrical panel but it was never installed.
This boat was sailing all last summer, without issue. It has been dry docked since last October, and is waiting for a visit from you!
This boat does have a clear title, and the seller is motivated, and very flexible.
