About this Sailboat:
You are cordially invited to explore, consider and, if desired, take ownership of the historic NY32 hull #17, Mustang. She is well known as a classic American yacht. Her previous owner of 23 years was Rod Stephens, the younger brother of Olin Stephens, the yacht’s naval architect. Rod campaigned the boat in offshore racing and cruising with storied success. Rod’s preparation of Mustang for offshore racing became the gold standard of that era.
Her current owners have had a mellower approach based on safe and seaman-like cruising. They have provided careful and steadfast stewardship since the early 1970’s and offer the boat for sale only due to their advancing age. The owners have dedicated themselves to preserving Mustang and are committed to finding a new and worthy steward for this special yacht. They have kept her privately owned and documented by the United States Coast Guard and she is clear of liens or mortgages.
In regard to the yachts location: Rio Dulce, translated to “Sweet River”, is well known by world cruisers as a tropical paradise. It is also a “hurricane hole” destination in storm season. The owners have plans to relocate the yacht to Annapolis, MD in the spring of 2013. However, their preference would be to assist a buyer in a sales transaction in Rio Dulce, and would discount the selling price to reflect the savings of delivery to Annapolis. Why not take advantage of this venue and start your cruising in Rio Dulce?
Mustang is a timeless S&S design that features a spoon bow, round bilge, full keel, external lead ballast, transom stern, and a tiller for helming. If ownership of such a boat is your dream, let’s make more concrete plans to get you out sailing on Mustang.
